2005-2014 Ford Mustang (S197) - Essential Buyers Guide

Essential Buyers Guide - Book Cover Image In late summer 2014 I was asked by Veloce if I would be willing to write another book for their "Essential Buyer's Guide" series. The next logical subject was the immensely popular 2005-2014 Mustangs or S197s as they're known.

This book(my second) is the result…

With a history that spans more than 50 years, the Ford Mustang has become a living legend. Appealing to many for its varied options, muscular looks and stellar performance; the retro-styling of the fifth generation Mustang harks back to the heydays of the 1960s and early 1970s, when the Mustang became an instant hit with the American public upon its launch and proceeded to become a worldwide motoring icon.

Arguably the best Ford Mustang produced to-date, the 2005-2014 Mustang (known as ‘S197’ by enthusiasts) is considered by many to already be a modern classic. From the fuel efficient V6, to powerful GT, and rocket-ship like Shelby GT500 models, there’s a 2005-2014 Mustang to suit every motoring enthusiast.

Providing an overview of the various models, their specifications, available options and associated running costs, the Essential Buyers Guide provides a great reference when looking to buy that Ford Mustang which has caught your eye. Packed with illustrative photographs and an extensive valuation check-list, this book can help give you greater confidence when determining if your planned purchase is a sound investment or not.

This website has been compiled by me and is intended as a companion to the buyers guide, with the intention of providing some additional useful information that I personally found difficult to obtain while looking to buy and enjoy my S197 Mustang. While not entirely focused on the UK there are some areas which are especially helpful and specific to owning classic american iron in the UK.

1964-1973 Ford Mustang - Essential Buyers Guide

I was approached by friend and fellow Ford Mustang owner David Hornsey, who had recently published a book called “Race and Trackday Driving Techniques”. His publisher (Veloce Publishing) knowing David was a Ford Mustang owner has asked if he would be interested in writing a second book which would be part of their popular “Essential Buyers Guide” series which covered first generation (or classic) Mustangs. A modest chap, David decided that the project would be out of his comfort zone, being more familiar with the modern S197 generation cars kindly asked if I would be interested in such a project.

The rest (as they say) is history…
